Bang & Olufsen
Email Template Re-Designs
Overview
Project Goal: Create clean and minimalist email templates for use in the opening of the Bang & Olufsen Leicester Store
Role: Designer • Developer
Timeline: 11th - 14th March
Tools & Methods:
-
Adobe Photoshop
-
Mail chimp
(Adobe photoshop was used to create modular sections for the email graphics, Mail chimp was the email provider of choice for this particular store)
Problem Statement
What problem were you trying to solve?
Create a set of re-useable modular email sections for B&O Leicester.
Why was this problem significant for the client or target audience?
It was a significant issue at the time 1-week before launch, B&O Leicester didn't have capacity to perform the tasks themselves.
Ideation
Bang & Olufsen have a rich heritage of clean and minimal design across all of their brand touch points, my task for this project was to adhere to the brand guidelines and make sure the email templates requested were built correctly and optimised across devices. We opted to go for a modular section design so they could be re-used to generate new emails themselves.

Visual Identity

Colour Palette:
-
Typography:
BeoSupreme is B&O's custom version of Lineto's Supreme typeface. A distinctive, fully functional yet sophisticated sans-serif typeface constructed purely out of straight lines and circular curves.
Implementation & Testing
Implementation
During handoff, each section was organised and labelled so that it was easy for them to create new emails in which ever configuration they desired. I also provided mock examples of email flows.
Testing
Each section was created within Adobe photoshop. We then tested the modular idea by moving sections up or down in hierarchy based on feedback from B&O Leicester
Reflection
What went well?
Discovery Session - Talking about the needs of the team and settling on a modular approach instead of building out multiple emails.
What could be improved?
Overall the project went well however it could have been improved by creating more variations for future campaigns but this was restricted by the turn around time.
How did this project contribute to your growth?
The project contributed in my growth as a designer by learning how to communicate in a non-technical manner and empathise with the needs of what was trying to be achieved
